Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is your jewellery made of?

I use 14K gold filled yellow and rose gold, as well as sterling silver. Gold filled is a quality material

that is common and easy to care for and will usually maintain it's golden shine for a lifetime. Also, it

is made up of two or three layers which core is brass. The gold is bonded to the surface with heat and

pressure. It is legally required to have 5% (karatage) of its weight in gold. Gold filled differs from gold

plated as plated refers to being dipped in a thin layer of gold that will eventually chip and wear off.

Sterling silver is 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% some other material – usually copper. Why the mix?  Pure

silver over time will oxidize (turn brown). Mixing it with the copper slows this process down and also

makes it stronger since silver in itself is a very soft metal. It is also a good idea to store your sterling silver piece in an airtight

zipper bag and place it in a drawer while you are not wearing it. avoiding oxygen and sunlight will help prevent oxidization.

2.What lengths do you offer?

I can make your chain any length that you wish. I have a quick chart guide for you to get a visual of

the common lengths and where they sit on a typical neck. I can also make any length above or below

them. If you are still not sure about which length to choose, I suggest using a string to make a loop around your

neck to see where you would want it to lay and then measure that string in inches.

3. Is the horizontal bar part of the chain length?

If you order one of the popular bar style necklaces, then yes, the bar is included in the overall length of

the necklace. If you prefer a dangling tag style instead, then just the chain will be the total length.

4. Can I wear my piece 24/7?

Although the pieces are made of high quality materials, I do recommend you take them off for

the gym, showers and sleeping. What makes them so pretty is their delicate composition, so I would

hate to see one snag while you are pumping weights ;) .The soaps we use in the shower have a

tendency to, overtime, wear on the delicate pieces.

5. How do I take care of my pieces?

I will provide you with a small white polishing pad. This is to be used on your tags when they look like

they need a buff. The oils from our skin eventually leave a "filmy" layer on them but no need to worry, a

few swipes with the polishing pad and you are good to go! A microfiber cloth with water also works

great to clean it.
